#23 FAYE LABANARIS - “Celia's Garden Gate" block, from 'A Tribute to Celia Thaxter' quilt - TWO DAY Class - Feb 9-10 Fri-Sat
“CELIA’S GARDEN GATE” Class Description: Celia loving tended and nurtured her garden of flowers in front of her cottage. Each day she picked armfuls of the choicest blooms to fill her parlor with their loveliness for her guests to enjoy. As an invited guest, you came to visit her parlor by first coming in through her garden gate. You got to experience the myriad of flowers, their colors and scents first hand. This memorable entrance has been immortalized in a black and white photo by her son Karl and now recreated by me in fabric, ribbons, and embroidery. I was honored have it chosen as the cover quilt on Elly Sienkiewicz’s First Baltimore Revival Catalog. Enjoy hearing about Celia as we garden with ribbon and stitch this Garden Gate Block.
